Life is filled with things that demand our attention. Assignment deadlines, sales goals, doctor appointments, screaming kids, bills past due… But how much attention do we really give to God’s Word?
We all know how important it is to feed on God’s Word and apply it to everything in our daily lives. And while many of us would like to say that the Kingdom of God is our number one priority, we must step back and give ourselves an honest evaluation. (And no, that devotion you have every morning with your cup of coffee doesn’t count.) It is a humbling, but vital process for all Christians.
Paul writes about how to take a personal survey of your Christian walk in 2 Corinthians 13:5, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?”
Jesus’s Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13 is a great example to use for your spiritual health checkup and looks at four types of Christians:
1. The Stagnant Christian
2. The Unstable Christian
3. The Distracted Christian
4. The Fruitful Christian
All of these four types are covered in the Parable of the Sower. Curious to know what kind of Christian you really are? Watch the video to find out and learn how to give yourself a spiritual health evaluation!
