Ocasio-Cortez Tries to Legitimize Push to End Christian Families through Fear Mongering

First-term Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been garnering a tremendous amount of attention for her socialism and seemingly outlandish Green New Deal proposal. Although these things seem ridiculous to hard-working American families, the current class of liberal Washington elites has a vastly different view, and their potential success could be dangerous to Christian families.

The New York Democrat representative commonly called AOC by the media has substantial support for her radical climate change legislation that would end the use of cars, planes, natural gas, and coal-fired power plants, as well as stop cows from passing gas. True, this all sounds silly and would cost upwards of $92 trillion to implement. However, AOC and Democrat 2020 presidential hopefuls find this deadly serious.

AOC is part of what many view as the Climate Change Cult that formed their political views under the thinking of Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” movie that foretold of the world’s ending years ago. Radical climate change followers are more akin to end of days cultists, and AOC has gone on the record questioning whether Americans should have children.

“There’s scientific consensus that the lives of children are going to be very difficult,” Ocasio-Cortez reportedly stated on her Instagram account. “And it does lead young people to have a legitimate question: is it OK to still have children?”

Her social media post also references the Green New Deal FAQ sheet that says unless we do exactly as she and other climate change fanatics require, the world will be unlivable in just 12 years. Of course, Al Gore made a similar 12-year doomsday prediction, and we are all still here.

But advocating that people stop having children wreaks of the type of oppressive government control exercised in socialist China where couples were only allowed one child. That effort at population control and reduction resulted in unprecedented numbers of abortions and infanticide. Girls were literally cast away so that family names could be continued through male heirs.

Socialists such as AOC are either naïve, uninformed or foolhardy. AOC has been roundly criticized for all of those, and the current collapse of socialist Venezuela is just another in a long history of examples demonstrating socialism creates human poverty and despair. AOC’s no-children suggestions are also inconsistent with the Christian faith. Fellowship, marriage, and family are cornerstone reflections of God’s love.

For example, Jesus is characterized as “indignant” when children are ushered away from him. He says, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

The upstart politician claims to be a devout Catholic who published her first article in a Jesuit magazine. Her political posture on socialism put her at odds with the church.

“Religious socialism, Christian socialism, are contradictory terms,” Pope Pius XI reportedly wrote. “(No) one can be at the same time a good Catholic and a true socialist.”

And her questioning the beauty and sanctity of life are also squarely at odds with Christian faith and families. Between Democrats pushing third-trimester abortion, post-birth infanticide and end of days climate change messaging, the U.S. population has already begun to decline.

Recent data coming out of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that the country’s fertility rate suffered seven consecutive years of decline through 2017. Experts stay that population stability requires 2,100 children born for every 1,000 women. In 2017, the U.S. was already falling short at 1,765 births per thousand women. It may sound sterile and, perhaps, lack compassion to discuss the future of American Christian families in terms of birth rates. However, that does not make it any less troubling.

Jesus was very clear when he walked among everyday people that we must continue our stewardship over the planet. AOC may feel strongly that care for the Earth means focusing on the scientific theory of climate change. But God does not want Christians to stop furthering the human race.

The inherent problem with radical liberalism is that too many issues are considered a crisis that requires drastic measures to resolve. Good people can be proactive about not polluting the environment while enjoying the blessing of family and children. Christians may be better informed to follow more than 2,000 years of Bible-based faith teachings than a 29-year-old politician who has not brought a child into the world.

If AOC’s Green New Deal means the end of family life, Christians may want to rename it the Green “No” Deal.
