From the moment the landslide victory of President Donald J. Trump and Vice Pres. Mike Pence sunk into the collective consciousness of the “resist” and “obstruct” left, Americans knew the knives would come out. From never-Trumpers to Antifa-endorsing Democrats, the concerted attacks on the president have been turned on their heads.
All “Russian Collusion” roads seem to lead back to the disgraceful Obama Administration, DNC and Hillary. The economy has boomed, jobs are up, and world leaders are being brought to heel by the America First policies under the Trump Administration. In what may be the left throwing in the towel, they appear to be shifting their attacks and making Vice President Mike Pence the new punching bag.
The Seeds of Discontent
Although “Teflon Donald” has endured a steady stream of criticism, the mild-mannered Mike Pence took a few early shots as well. Perhaps the most notable was the cast of the hit musical “Hamilton,” who went out of their way to imply the incoming administration did not have their “diverse” interests in mind. After V.P. Pence and his wife took in a performance, cast member Brandon Victor Dixon delivered this scripted monologue.
“We, sir — we — are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” he said. “We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of ALL of us.”
In many ways, Dixon set a tone that would be embraced by the most radical left, claiming the vice president was sexist, racist, homophobic and acted contrary to his devout Christian values of loving all God’s people.
Conservatives are still waiting for Mr. Dixon to deliver the apology President Trump requested. After all, African-American and Hispanic employment is at a record high, dangerous gangs are being rounded up and the V.P. has worked tirelessly to protect ALL life.
Are you Not Entertained?
It wouldn’t be Oscar night without political attacks by the left. Host Jimmy Kimmel kicked off the negatives after calling for positivity and inclusion. In literary terms, that’s called “irony” Jimmy.
The modestly funny comedian poked fun at V.P. Pence saying that “We don’t make films like ‘Call Me By Your Name’ for money. We make them to upset Mike Pence.” The reference to Pence’s conservative, Christian values was met with laughter by the Hollywood celebrities who attended. But the political poison lobbed by the Liberal media commenting on the movie awards far outpaced Jimmy Kimmel.
John Avlon of The Daily Beast penned an extensive opinion piece claiming that V.P. Pence should be awarded an Oscar . . . for “insincerity.” After a novel-length attack on the administration’s accomplishments, Avlon had this to say.
“What’s clear to all of us watching this painful reality show play out in our republic is that President Trump can’t stand the slightest whiff of public dissent. Pence is playing a role rooted in self-interest. You can call this hypocrisy, cowardice or the triumph of ambition over principle. Pence well may believe that this is the necessary path to fulfil God’s plan to one day make him president. But surely we can all agree that this act deserves an Oscar.”
The Oscars ratings dipped to an all-time low, besting last year’s politically-charged rants for worst viewed ever.
Mike Pence and the Olympics Trials
En route to earning a Bronze medal at the Olympics, gay U.S. figure skater Adam Rippon garnered headlines by bashing V.P. Pence and creating a faux controversy. Rippon reportedly said that he would not meet with V.P. Pence. Although joyously published by several fake news outlets, the credibility of the Pence rebuff was not exactly vetted.
What the fake news media failed to report was that the Vice-President had never offered to meet with Rippon. Although V.P. Pence proudly proclaimed that he was attending the Winter Games to support “all” American athletes, Rippon had not earned a medal at the time, nor did he enjoy star athlete status. In fact, Rippon finished 10th in individual competition and road the coattails of more accomplished Olympians to take home a U.S. Team Bronze. Still, NBC hired Rippon as an Olympic correspondent, perhaps based on his orientation and ability to create a Pence controversy where one does not exist. Some call that “fake news.”
The Prophets and Pence are Crazy
Joy Behar, co-host of The View, went out of her way to bash V.P. Pence for his devout Christian beliefs. Pence, who prays daily, adheres to the Gospel and seeks direction from God, became the butt of Behar’s venom, much to the displeasure of Conservative viewers. In a discussion about Pence’s faith, Behar said, “It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you… that’s called mental illness.”
Despite ABC getting hit with a significant backlash over the star’s religious intolerance, she has failed to appropriately apologize to the Vice-President and insulted Christians.
After more than a year of failed attempts to bring down President Trump and his America First agenda, the gloves are off and Mike Pence appears to be the left’s latest punching bag. Conservatives look forward to seeing who is still standing after the 2020 elections.
